Draymond Green has won StatSheet's Big Ten Player of the Week for February 20th. Branden Dawson has won StatSheet Big Ten Freshman of the Week. Green put up a strong showing in shooting (50%), scoring (20 pts per game), and assists (6 per game). The Michigan State senior played well for the Spartans in wins against 15th ranked Wisconsin and Purdue.
Green topped all scoring and rebounding for the Spartans with 20 points and 10 rebounds in a 69-55 win over Wisconsin. He followed that up with a team-leading 20 points plus an additional 7 assists in a 76-62 victory against Purdue.
This is one of three StatSheet Big Ten Player of the Week honors for Draymond Green. He has also been a runner-up more than once. The runner-up this week is senior Robbie Hummel from Purdue. Honorable mention goes to senior John Shurna from Northwestern.
StatSheet Big Ten Freshman of the Week: Michigan State's Branden Dawson
Branden Dawson played an average of 23 minutes starting both games for Michigan State. In the win over Wisconsin, Dawson rang up 7 points and 3 rebounds. Following that in the win against Purdue, he added 15 points and 11 rebounds.
This is a repeat honor for Branden Dawson, making it the second time he has won StatSheet Big Ten Freshman of the Week. The runner-up is Trey Burke from Michigan. Cody Zeller from Indiana receives honorable mention. Including this week, Michigan State players have been named StatSheet Big Ten Player of the Week 4 times this season.
